SCOUTS AND GUIDES, CUBS AND BULBUL

The Scouting Movement was conceptualized as far back as 1890 by Lord Baden Powell and the first Scout Camp was organized in 1907. In or around the year 1911, a corresponding movement was started for girls and came to be known as the Guide Movement. Scouting is fun with a purpose, directing, helping boys and girls become happy, healthy ,useful citizens. scouting complements the school , education, family, filling needs not met by either. Scouting develops self-knowledge and the need to explore, to discover, world beyond the classroom, tapping the skills of others to learn and to become well- rounded people.

Cubs/ Bulbul- Grade 3 to 5

Scouts/ Guides- Grade 6 to 9

The Importance of Scouts

 Fun with a purpose

 Through recreation, Scouting helps to achieves its purpose of developing young people physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Scouting in terms means building confidence and self-esteem within, learning important life skills and leadership skills, team building, outdoor adventure, education, and much fun.

A worldwide movement

Scout associations and branches are more than in 216 countries and territories. Scouting has never stopped growing since it is founded in 1907. Today there are more than 25 million Scouts. Since 90 years ,, Over 300 million people have been members when Scouting was founded.

 Open to all

 Scouting is open to all without difference of origin, race, class, or creed, providing that the person voluntarily adheres to Scouting’s Principles.

A code of living

Scouting’s Principles describe a simple code of living to which all Scouts make a personal commitment throughout the Scout Promise and Law. Scouting helps Scouts learn how to carry out their commitment in everyday life.

This approach to life has three dimensions:

A Spiritual Dimension — A commitment to seek the spiritual value of life on daily basis

A Social Dimension — Participating in the development of society, and respecting the dignity of others adding to the integrity of the natural world.

A Personal Dimension — Developing a sense of personal responsibility.

Scouts and Guides Law 

  1. Scouts/Guides must be trustworthy
  2. Scouts/Guides must treat everyone as their friend and must treat other Scouts/guides as their Brother/sister
  3. Scouts/guides should always be courteous.
  4. Scouts/Guides should be friend to all animals and a nature lover.
  5. Scouts/Guides must be disciplined and must help to protect public properties and other human beings.
  6. Scouts/Guides must be thrifty.
  7. Scouts/Guides should be pure in their thought, word and deed.
  8. Scouts/Guides are always loyal
  9. Scouts/Guides are very courageous.

CUBS & BULBULS

Cubs and bulbuls is the next lap in the journey towards scouting and guiding. Character building is its aim. Instilling self – discipline and thoughtfulness for others, at a tender age, is the major focus, of the activities designed for this group. It prepares the boys and girls to take up bigger tasks in scouting and guiding and also helps in their mental and physical growth. Children learn to be independent and to live life in a disciplined manner. Students of std III – V can join this movement.

The Promise for the Cub is –

“I Promise to do my best

To do my duty to God and my country

To keep the Cub Law and

To do a good turn every day.

The promise for the Bulbul is –

“I Promise to do my best

To do my duty to God and my country

To keep thee Bulbul Law and

To do a good turn every day”

The Law for  the Cub is-

(i)      The Cub gives in to the elders.

(ii)      The Cub is clean and courteous.

The Law for the Bulbul is –

(i)      The Bulbul gives in to the elders.

(ii)      The Bulbul is clean and courteous.

 

The proposed activities for Scouts and Guides, Cubs and Bulbul are:

 

On line/Off line Theory Classes, Personal grooming session, Field trips, Camps, Social Partnership Programms, Qatar Scouts/ Guides, Physical Exercises, Games, Campfire, Home Science. Sharing and Caring etc. (all activities and classes will be followed Covid protocol issued by Ministry of Qatar)
